He is a member of the Investment Committee of the Royal Masonic Trust for Girls and Boys, and a Pension Fund Trustee for the United Grand Lodge of England. He is a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of International Bankers and the Worshipful Company of Fletchers.

Malcolm is a Criticaleye Board Mentor. His career was principally nearly 30 years at N M Rothschild & Sons where, after a client facing career leading to Head of Banking, he reported to chairman Evelyn de Rothschild as Managing Director Group Risk.
During this time he became focused on people management and ultimately on reputation management; he honed his skills on assessing and recruiting staff. Since retirement Malcolm has followed up his skills in trouble-shooting, fact-finding and mentoring, through NED and consultancy roles including Alliance & Leicester plc, The Merchant Bank of Central Africa, Zimbabwe, the Cabinet Office Risk Programme Steering Group, the Prince’s Trust as well as with Rothschilds.

In all these roles Malcolm has been a catalyst for change, particularly in Risk and Governance, using his experience and inter-personal skills to help identify and advise on key risks. He is a theoretical physicist by background having researched for a DPhil at Oxford, where he was also Dean of St Peter’s College.

He lives in Ockham, Surrey where he and his wife have spent two years renovating a farm property. His interests include music and rowing; he is a part owner and user of a coxless IV previously raced by Sir Steve Redgrave in the world championships. Malcolm is looking for more NED roles to pass on the benefit of his wide experience.
