John is currently busy with a portfolio of non-executive activities. He worked for many years in the IT industry on both the supply and client sides. His career spanned a series of top level CIO positions - at GlaxoSmithKline, Merial, RWENpower and Royal Mail - and before this he was responsible for a series of major UK Government technology based change programmes. More recently he has devoted his time to general management in a mix of executive and advisory roles.

John was the founding Chief Executive of CIO Connect, which was established as the networking organisation for CIOs and which remains central to that sector. He remains in close contact with many of those responsible for running technology in large companies, and was an advisor to EuroCIO (the networking organisation for senior CIOs across Europe).

He now divides his time between a variety of activities including:

• a Board Mentor of Criticaleye
• advisor to Illustra on their global sales training programme
• mentoring/coaching at senior management levels.
