Angus is chairman of The Caldecott Foundation, a charitable organization concerned with the care and education of looked-after children. He is also a founder director of QuickVox Ltd and a Criticaleye Board Mentor.
In his early career, Angus worked both at home and abroad for Dunlop and Mercantile Credit Company, before joining Chloride Group PLC in 1976. After running subsidiary operations in Malaysia, France and the UK, he became Chairman - Chloride Europe in 1983 and was an executive main board member between 1984 and 1988. He subsequently served as a non-executive director until 2006, becoming senior independent director in 2001. From 1989 to 1994 he was Managing Director of Imperial College, London, with responsibility for the Central Administration, before resuming his commercial career as Chief Executive of Scruttons, a diversified industrial group listed on AIM.
Since 1997, Angus has pursued a portfolio career as director of a range of small to medium-sized, public and private (both family and private-equity backed) companies in different sectors, including power electronics, construction and engineering, education, technology and plantations. He was latterly a non-executive director of IdaTech plc, an AIM-listed fuel cell and related systems business based in Oregon.
Angus is a graduate of Selwyn College Cambridge and INSEAD. He is married and lives in Kent. His interests include music, opera, golf, hillwalking and painting.
