George Yip

George is Professor of Management and Co-Director of the Centre on China Innovation at China Europe International Business School, which is the top business school in mainland China. He is based in London, Shanghai, and Maine, U.S.A. He is Co-Executive Editor of Chinese Management Insights.
His current research concerns innovation, strategic transformation, and managing global customers. He has won both 'best teaching' and 'best research' awards.
From 2008 to 2011, he was Dean of Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, a top six European business school with over 7,500 students. Before joining RSM, George was Vice President and Director of Research & Innovation at Capgemini Consulting. Previous faculty positions include Associate Dean at London Business School, Chair of Marketing and Strategy at Cambridge Judge Business School, UCLA and Harvard Business School. Full-time business experience includes product management with Unilever; advertising account management with Lintas; and senior manager of Price Waterhouse's strategic management consulting services in the Eastern United States.
George is one of the world's leading academic experts on the subject of global account management. He has been researching and consulting about this topic for over fifteen years, and is the author of both a recent book, Managing Global Customers (Oxford University Press, 2007), and a recent Harvard Business Review article on this subject. An earlier book, Total Global Strategy (Prentice Hall, 1992; 1995), was selected as one of the 30 best business books of 1992 and has been published in ten languages (a 3rd edition was published in 2011).
George has advised numerous major companies on global account management, including Andersen Consulting, Bank of America, Capgemini, Coopers & Lybrand, Energizer, Ernst & Young, Hewlett-Packard, KPMG, McKinsey, Microsoft, NEC, PeopleSoft, Price Waterhouse, Statoil Hydro, Vopak and Wilhelmsen Group. He has written case studies about GAM at Hewlett-Packard, Siemens, and WPP-Star Alliance.
George holds B.A. and M.A. degrees in economics from Cambridge University; MBAs from Cranfield School of Management and Harvard Business School, and a doctorate from Harvard. A native of Asia, he is a dual citizen of the United Kingdom and of the United States.
His non-work activities and interests include tennis, theatre and opera. He and his wife, Moira, are financial sponsors of English National Opera, English Speaking Union, and Royal National Theatre.
